11 people caught drifting in Ankara, 2 million TL in fines issued

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into those performing drifts on public roads under the charge of 'endangering traffic safety' and taken action. Teams from the Traffic Inspection and Public Order Branch of the General Directorate of Security reviewed camera footage, reports, and social media posts to identify 11 suspects.

In the operation, 12 vehicles were removed from traffic; a total administrative fine of 2 million 78 thousand lira was imposed on the suspects. The 11 defendants referred to court were released by the judge with house arrest measures. Similar drift operations had been conducted in Ankara in the past; however, the fines applied at that time remained in the hundreds of thousands of lira and did not exceed 2 million. What distinguishes this case from previous enforcement actions is that it was carried out under Chief Public Prosecutor coordination and involved multiple branch directorates participating in the process simultaneously.
