7-year-old Azra Nazlı Sarıoğlu struck by car in Ceyhan dies

A car struck 7-year-old Azra Nazlı Sarıoğlu as she stepped onto the road on 38th Street in Gaziosmanpaşa District in Ceyhan yesterday at 10:30 a.m. The child was severely injured by the vehicle operated by Emine Eylem Y.

Following reports from bystanders, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Azra Nazlı was first taken to Ceyhan State Hospital by ambulance, then transferred to Adana City Hospital due to the severity of her condition; despite doctors' intervention, she could not be saved.

According to DHA reporting, the driver Emine Eylem Y., who was detained at the scene, has become the subject of an investigation launched by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. In Ceyhan, the debate over pedestrian crossings and speed reduction measures to prevent child deaths in traffic accidents had also occupied the district's agenda following a similar accident last year.
