80-year tradition revived in Kazdağları

A historic gathering took place again this year in Muratlar village, in Bayramiç district of Çanakkale. Thousands of young people who came together as part of the annual charity dinner event walked the 1.5-kilometre road known as 'Aşıklar Sokağı' — Lovers' Street — in search of potential partners.

This tradition, which has continued uninterrupted for eighty years in the foothills of Kazdağları, draws participants not only from Bayramiç but from surrounding districts and provinces as well. Woven into the fabric of the local charity dinner custom, the walk gives young people the chance to meet and socialise in a traditional setting.

Along the route, participants have the opportunity both to get to know one another and to experience the natural beauty of Kazdağları, all within the area's distinctive cultural atmosphere. Passed down from generation to generation for decades, the tradition continues to be embraced by local people as both an act of community solidarity and a celebration of cultural heritage.
