A British tourist has been isolated at Milan's Sacco Hospital after authorities confirmed he was on the same flight from South Africa as a previously confirmed hantavirus victim. UK authorities informed Italy's Health Ministry about the passenger, who was on vacation in Italy at the time of identification.

The discovery follows a second confirmed hantavirus death in Italy and an 11th case aboard the cruise ship Hondius. Authorities are also investigating a case involving an Argentine patient, expanding the geographic scope of the outbreak and raising concerns about transmission during travel.
