One of 14 Spanish soldiers isolated at the Gómez Ulla military facility in Tenerife has returned a provisional positive result for hantavirus in his initial PCR test, according to El País.

The confirmed case has been moved to a high-level isolation unit. The other 13 personnel have tested negative but will remain under quarantine for 42 days as a precaution.

The incident marks Spain's first confirmed case linked to the recent hantavirus cluster in Europe.
