Syria Closes Nasib Crossing with Jordan After Airstrikes
Syria's General Authority for Border Control and Customs suspended passenger and cargo traffic in both directions following Jordanian strikes in Daraa province.
Syria's General Authority for Border Control and Customs announced the temporary closure of the Nasib border crossing with Jordan for passenger and cargo transport in both directions. The authority cited "the situation in Daraa province" as the reason.
Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it notified Amman of the decision, pointing to a lack of coordination from Jordan. The ministry expressed deep regret over the fact that Jordanian airstrikes "resulted in civilian casualties in Daraa," according to a statement from the ministry.
On October 26, Jordan's Air Force conducted strikes in southern Syria against groups that Jordan linked to terrorists responsible for an attack on the Church of Saint George in the Jordanian province of Al-Karak. According to Jordan's Ministry of Health, nine people were killed in the October 23 terrorist attack, with 34 others wounded.
