Syria's official news agency SANA announced that the Noseeb border crossing, linking southern Syria and Jordan, will reopen to passenger and commercial vehicle traffic beginning the morning of Wednesday, October 28, 2024, following a closure period that came after acute border tensions.

The crossing had been closed following a Jordanian airstrike that targeted positions in Daraa province in southern Syria, resulting in civilian casualties. Amman stated that the strike targeted elements of the terrorist organization ISIS, expressing regret over civilian losses.

The Noseeb crossing, also known as Jaber from the Jordanian side, is considered one of the region's most prominent and vital land borders for trade exchange and movement of people between the two countries. Sources reported that a joint Syrian-Jordanian committee will meet within two days to discuss the consequences of recent events and work on developing coordination mechanisms to prevent their recurrence.
